Examinations

New Patient Exam

This is the recommended option if you haven’t been to the dentist for more than a couple of years or it has been more than two years since you had an x-ray.

We will have a thorough look around your mouth, including your teeth, gums, tongue, cheeks and the back of your throat. We will take x-rays to see if you have any decay between your teeth. We will finish by giving you a thorough clean and remove any hard deposits and staining that can’t be removed by brushing and flossing.

After this appointment you will know how healthy your mouth is and if you need any further dental treatment.

Regular Check-Up

If we have recent x-rays of your teeth and you aren’t prone to tooth decay, then x-rays are unlikely to be needed.

We will have a thorough look around your mouth, including your teeth, gums, tongue, cheeks and the back of your throat, then you will get your teeth thoroughly cleaned of all  hard deposits, plaque, tea and tobacco staining.

After this appointment you will know how healthy your mouth is and if you need any further dental treatment.

Consultation

This is the recommended option if you have a specific problem you would like us to have a look at such as a broken tooth or a toothache.

Free Treatment for High School Students

We offer free annual dental check ups and dental treatment for under 18s. Free dental treatment does not cover elective treatments like orthodontic braces.

Student Discount

We know it can be tough finding the time and money to see the dentist when you are a student. To assist, we offer all tertiary students a 10% discount off the cost of any exam or treatment.

ACC treatments

If you have suffered an injury to your teeth or mouth, you are entitled to assistance from ACC. There may be a small co-charge, but often the cost of treatment is free at CBS Dental.

Free WINZ Quotes

If you have a community services card WINZ will likely pay for some, if not all, of the cost of your emergency dental treatment. Come see us for a free WINZ quote.

White Fillings

White fillings (otherwise know as composite restorations) are used to restore decayed and broken teeth. While they usually aren’t quite as attractive or as long lasting as dental crowns, they are much cheaper.

A white filling is the most ideal treatment when you have a relatively small hole in your tooth, but can also be used for larger holes in teeth which aren’t exposed to very high biting forces.

Root Canal Treatment

If your tooth is infected it’s often possible to save your tooth with a root canal treatment. In spite of popular opinion, root canal treatments aren’t normally painful. In fact, it wouldn’t be surprising to us if you fell asleep during the procedure! We use the latest technologies to ensure your experience is a comfortable one.

Dental Crowns

If you have a very broken tooth or a tooth that you are unhappy with its appearance we can prevent your tooth from breaking further and vastly improve its appearance by making a crown to fit over the top of your tooth.

Dental Bridge

If you are missing one or more teeth we can replace them with a bridge.

Unlike a denture a bridge is fixed to your other teeth. Because it is fixed to your other teeth, it looks good and is strong so you can eat properly with it. You also don’t have to worry about it falling out of your mouth and causing embarrassment.

Tooth Extractions

Sometimes when a tooth is causing you a problem, the only option is to take the tooth out. We take our time and use techniques that ensure you will be comfortable and not feel any pain during the extraction procedure.
